Artist Statement for Cross-Section Series

When the interior of a stone, picture jasper, is revealed, it contains what looks like landscape imagery, as if the material is imprinted with its own history. This series is inspired by this phenomenon. Silhouetted shapes, which can be interpreted as total abstractions, cartoon thought-balloons or subtle references to recognizable objects, contain images which metaphorically allude to human experience. These fine art digital prints are made with pigmented inks from original computer files specifically for this medium.
